A New Lease on Life Following Spine Surgery

Cheryl Irwin likes to be in the thick of things and her fast-paced schedule as Vice President of the Lancaster Chamber of Commerce and Industry puts her smack in the middle on a daily basis. She welcomes the challenges that come with the job — she coordinates the marketing, communications, membership and business development for the chamber. And while she sits at a desk a good part of the time, she’s often literally on the run to keep projects moving.
 
When she began experiencing numbness in her left leg, she decided to work with a personal trainer in the hopes of improving her strength and mobility. One day she fell to the ground during a workout and couldn’t move. She realized the numbness was a symptom of a more serious problem and saw her family physician Dr. Richard Jackson at Eastbrook Family Medicine. Dr. Jackson referred her to Dr. John Gastaldo at Lancaster NeuroScience & Spine Associates.
