Treatment Alternatives

Our medical group gives strong preference to conservative treatment alternatives. Many common spine and disc problems respond well to an appropriate combination of medication, physical therapy, and exercise. For spinal problems and other conditions that require surgery, LNSA provides an excellent resource, with state-of-the-art procedures performed by highly skilled, experienced surgeons.

When Surgery is Required

When surgery is required, we are fortunate to be associated with the very latest facilities and skilled staffs provided by our area hospitals and our own surgery center, The NeuroSpine Center. Our neurosurgeons are on the active, courtesy, or consulting staff of Lancaster General Hospital, Lancaster Regional Medical Center, The Heart of Lancaster Regional Medical Center, and the Lancaster General Gamma Knife Center.

The physician who has been treating you from the outset will supervise your preparation for surgery, perform the surgical procedure, and supervise your recovery and rehabilitation. Our Physician Assistants and Nurse Practitioners serve as First Surgical Assists.

Should you be hospitalized over a weekend or holiday, you might also be seen by other physicians in our group who are on call. During your hospital stay, the services of our Non-Physician Practitioners are also available to you. They will assist you with your hospital admission and discharge, and provide preoperative and post-operative advice and instruction. They will also perform your post-operative dressing changes and removal of sutures or staples.
